Coach Bissell has been coaching Women’s Water Polo and Men’s and Women’s Swimming at Foothill College since the summer of 2001.  Prior to arriving in Los Altos, Jeff attended Chico State University where he graduated with a BA in Exercise Physiology and a MA in Physical Education.

As the Women’s Water Polo Coach for the last 18 years, Coach Bissell has won the Coast Conference Championship all but 3 seasons, has taken 15 women’s water polo teams to the Northern CA Championships, and won in 2012.  Coach Bissell’s teams have qualified for the CA State Water Polo Championship 7 times during his tenure.

Taking over the Men’s and Women’s swim program full time in 2007, Coach Bissell has won 3 Coast Conference Championships and sent numerous swimmers to the CA State Championships, including a back-to-back State Champion in the 200 breaststroke in 2016-2017.

Although Coach Bissell believes in preparing his team to be as competitive as possible, it is not the number one goal of his program.

It is important for Foothill to compete and do so with good sportsmanship, but more importantly, it is to help players coming in at the age of 18 or 19 to learn how to become responsible adults,” he says. “My main goal is to move these players on to a four-year university to get their bachelor’s degree whether they play water polo or not.

Coach Bissell and his wife Natasha, a Recreation Manager, live in Campbell with their two children, Ethan & Chase.
