Foothill College Defeats Gavilan to Start Season 3-0

Foothill matched up against Gavilan in week 3, looking to continue the momentum from 2 straight wins to start the year.

Defense was immense the entire first half, forcing repeated 3 and outs and gifting the offense with great field position.

Owls got the scoring started quickly WR Azari Brown finding the end zone on an end-around rush, with Foothill looking too strong for the Gavilan defense so far.

Foothill immediately doubled their lead at the next chance, with WR Wuda Ardoin continuing his great season with another receiving touchdown via QB Shamir Bey.

Special teams penalties were one of the only issues with the Owls performance today, with Izaiah Nakanishi’s massive punt return TD being overturned for a block in the back.

QB Shamir Bey is continuing to improve, finding WR Jaquwan Brackenridge who makes a fantastic catch to give Foothill a commanding 21-0 lead to end the first quarter.

Jaymason Howard sets up the offense with a massive 60+ yard rush, and QB Shamir Bey hits WR Wuda Ardoin with a perfect back shoulder fade for a TD.

RB Anastacio Prado had a fantastic day rushing, breaking free from the defense and speeding past the secondary for a 31-yard touchdown to give the Owls a commanding lead.

QB Shamir Bey showed off his dynamic skill-set, rolling out to his right and throwing a dart to WR Jaquwan Brackenridge in the corner of the end zone.

Owls followed up with a field goal at the stroke of halftime to give the Owls an insurmountable 45-0 lead going into halftime.

Special teams penalties continue to be today’s blemish for Foothill, with the 2nd half kickoff being returned for a touchdown, yet being called back once again.

However RB Anastacio Prado continued to dominate on the ground, bursting away for another long rushing touchdown, this time a 47 yard effort.

To put a cap on this awesome win and redeem the special teams penalties, the Owls final scoring play is a 52 yard punt return TD from WR Johnnie Barbie, this time with no flags.

Gavilan was severely outmatched, and Foothill did well to keep their foot on the gas and mend the special teams issues highlighted by the excellence of both the offense and defense.

The Owls begin the season 3-0 for the 4th straight year, and look to continue this unbeaten effort next week @ Cabrillo.

Final score: Foothill College 59-0 Gavilan College
